About
I am Lukas Rieder: a self-taught software engineer, consultant, and founder. Since 2008, I have worked on web and data systems, first as an independent developer and later with teams and companies of my own. I founded Parlant GmbH in 2022.
Most of my work lives where application code meets the systems around it: data, infrastructure, deployment, operations, and the small decisions that keep a product understandable after its first release. I like tools with visible seams, plain interfaces, and a path from local development to a system someone else can run.
Why this site exists
This is not a company brochure or a complete CV. It is my working notebook: a place to turn decisions, experiments, and hard-won lessons into notes I can revisit. The writing follows work closely enough to explain not only what I built, but why a particular constraint, tool, or design choice mattered.
Expect posts about software design, developer tools, infrastructure, freelancing, and the maintenance work behind long-lived systems. Some begin with a small local annoyance; others with a production deployment or a client project. Both deserve a record when they lead to a reusable idea.
For a compact map of companies, ventures, and selected projects, see Work.
